Typically RTL’s Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear protection systems are part of a Life Support System (LSS), which combines it with HVAC but it can also be provided as a standalone system.
A typical CBRN protection system includes one common NBC / CBRN Filter for the platform, and it offers 3 Protection Modes:
- Overpressure Protection: crew cabin is over pressurized by filtered air and there is no need to use individual protection
- Collective Facemasks Protection: when crew cabin can't be over pressurized, filtered and conditioned (also cooled / heated if part of a LSS) air is delivered to each individual NBC Facemask.
- Hybrid Protection: simultaneous Overpressure & Collective Facemask Protection is used mainly in preparation for hatch or ramp opening in a contaminated area.
